Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 August 2026
WIFME is a social training app for runners, cyclists and swimmers. You plan
workouts, share them with people you follow, and discover sessions happening
near you. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, who it is
shared with, and the control you have over it. It applies to the WIFME mobile
app (Android package com.wifme.app and iOS) and this website.
Who we are
WIFME is operated by the app's developer. For any privacy question, or to
exercise your rights, contact us at
support@wifme.app.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account — your email address and password (passwords are handled by our authentication provider; we never see them in plain text).
- Profile — display name, username, and optionally an avatar, cover photo, bio, your home town, personal records (e.g. 5K/10K times, FTP), and a pinned goal. If you pick your town from the suggestions, or tap Use my current location, we also store its municipality, district and coordinates, so that groups and people near you can be found by distance instead of by matching text. Those coordinates are visible only to you — they are never returned to other users, and the app shows others only the town name. Typing your town by hand stores no coordinates at all.
- Workouts — activity type, title, date and time, duration, distance, planned pace, notes, and the workout's location (place name and map coordinates). If you import a
.gpx or .fit file, its route (GPS track points) is stored so it can be drawn on a map.
- Social content — the people you follow, workouts you join, comments you write, and the groups you create or join.
- Photos — images you pick for your profile, cover, or groups. These are resized and stored in our media storage and are publicly readable by URL.
- Workout descriptions for AI — if you use the "describe your workout" feature, the free text you type or dictate is sent to our AI provider to turn it into structured blocks (see Sharing).
Information collected automatically
- Precise location — with your permission, which the app asks for the first time you open it. The feed only shows workouts within a radius of where you are, so it needs a position to mean anything. Your coordinates are sent to our database to run that search and are not stored there; the exception is the one described under Profile above, where you deliberately save your town. You can deny or revoke the permission at any time in your device settings — the rest of the app keeps working, and you can type your town instead.
- Push notification token — a device token from Apple/Google (via Expo) so we can send you notifications about follows, comments, joins, and group activity. Stored against your account and removed if it becomes invalid.
WIFME does not use advertising identifiers and does not track you across other apps or websites.
How we use your information
- To create and run your account and profile.
- To show your workouts to the audience you choose, and to build your feed from people you follow and workouts near you.
- To power social features: following, joining workouts, comments, groups, and the notifications about them.
- To convert a natural-language workout description into structured blocks when you ask the app to.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Location and workout visibility
Location matters in WIFME, so you control it directly. Every workout has a
visibility setting:
- Public — visible to anyone in the app, including in the Nearby map.
- Followers — visible only to people who follow you.
- Groups — visible only to members of the groups you attach it to.
- Private — visible only to you.
A workout's coordinates are only shared with other users according to this
setting. These rules are enforced on our server, not just in the app.
Who we share data with
We share data only with the service providers that make the app work. They
process data on our behalf, under their own terms, and are not permitted to
use it for their own purposes:
- Supabase — our database, authentication, and media storage. Your account, profile, workouts, and photos are hosted here.
- Mapbox — geocoding (turning a place into coordinates and back) and static map images. Location coordinates are sent to Mapbox for these features.
- Anthropic (Claude) — processes the workout description you submit to the AI feature, only to return structured workout blocks. It is not used to train models. If you never use that feature, no data is sent.
- Expo / Apple / Google — deliver push notifications to your device.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights
and safety of our users and the service.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account and
all associated data at any time — from the app (Profile → Settings → Delete
account) or by following the instructions at
wifme.app/delete-account.
Deleting your account removes your profile, workouts, routes, photos, comments,
and social connections.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with our
hosting provider. Access to your private data is restricted by server-side
access rules tied to your authenticated account. No system is perfectly secure,
but we work to protect your information and to limit what any given request can
reach.
Children
WIFME is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your
country), and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child
has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export,
or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You can edit
most data directly in the app, delete your account as described above, or contact
us to make a request.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected
here with a new "last updated" date. Continued use of WIFME after an update means
you accept the revised policy.
